January 2025 Staff Evaluations

Liurnia 30 Jan 2025 00:33

Alright, welcome to the January Staff evaluations. This month:

• Poliacci became an admin and became the head for the community team.
• CamaradeAlbabar stepped down from being a moderator.
• pnn wepm became a moderator.
• Schulzenreich became a junior staff member.
• The critique process was modified.
• The CharCon was launched.
• The annual page showcase was posted.
• Many rewrites were approved.

Down below are a list of some of the guidelines for how evaluations will function, please take note of them if you wish to participate in this discussion:

• To vote, the resulting position of the promotion/demotion must be displayed on the last row of the voting table.
• If you think a given candidate's current position is adequate, then leave their current role in the Promotion/Demotion to row.
• Abstaining continues to be an option.
• As always, reasoning behind your vote would be appreciated. Remember that a convincing, well-structured message can sway the vote.

There's nothing really to be said that my co-workers haven't said. These guys have been kicking total ass and i think they're ready to be full mods.

Seth has been an incredible help with both maintenance and community tasks. He’s active and always willing to get the job done, I don’t see any reason why we should keep him in the j-staff position. I can’t attest to his contributions with disc since I’m, well, not on disc, but I’m sure he’s been doing great in that area too.

Plant has been generally a good worker, but in my mind I don't think they've done enough to warrant a promotion or too little to warrant a demotion. I think we should just give them some more time as J-staff.

Evaluation Thoughts

Liurnia 30 Jan 2025 01:52

Staff member	Current position	Promotion/Demotion to
Poliacci	Administrator	Same

I'm really impressed by Poliacci's responsiveness ever since being in their position. They really fit the spot and helped me make the changes I did to critique very quickly while offering useful insight. I didn't support the initial proposal for them to become an admin, but after seeing how they have performed, I definitely have changed my mind on that.

Staff member	Current position	Promotion/Demotion to
Schulzenreich	Junior Staff	Same Moderator

I'm not a member of the disciplinary team, but I think Schulzenreich needs another month before their capabilities can be properly analyzed. I haven't I was midway through typing this out before I went and looked over their staff server messages, and they have added a lot to discussion that I didn't properly take note of. Burn out is something to be cautious of, but this level of output shouldn't be hindered going forward. Advocating that they're promoted to Moderator, as they've been a very welcome presence to the staff team.

Staff member	Current position	Promotion/Demotion to
YourWeirdPlant	Junior Staff	Moderator

They haven't had the most activity during their time here, but they are just a member of the community team, so I think what they've contributed is inline with that. If they want to join any other teams, their activity would need to increase, but taking a slow approach to staff matters shows they aren't burning themself out and have a healthy mindset. They should become a moderator.

Schulz has been kicking ass on disc team and around staff.

Plant has been inactive but has kept us updated on their irl situation, I don't mind giving them the benefit of the doubt so they don't auto-demoted. They were active before the irl thing and are still active in discussions, so, again, I don't mind promoting them.

Mirroring this vote. (along with reasoning behind the vote). Sorry I don't have the time nor mental capacity to do a full write up of a vote so I'm just going to mirror Atlas' vote.

Ooo my first eval vote :3

So my reasoning.

Schulze:
My guy hasn't been on staff for very long, but has been very helpful in maintenance. As for his activity in disc, from what I've seen that is really good as well. I ain't in disc team so I ain't 100% sure what bro doin in there but I see no reason for him to not become red.

Plant:
Yeah he hasn't been the most active, but he's doing very well in warning us about his inactivity, and the one staff team he's in is… wacky to say the least. Also considering that he has been a mod before, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Voting for the obvious option once again, both of these guys are not only productive, but also have enough experience — it is not their first time joining the team and even getting promoted to be Mods, so I see no reasons to keep any of them as a J staff

And since I've already ran out of obvious options when it comes to promotions I'll mention how much Liurnia, LiminalDoctor, and Rey impressed me during this month, sometimes carrying whole teams — thank you guys for having such a great level of passion and dedication for this site and its community, all of you get an MVP of this month for me personally :D

There's not much to say that hasn't already been said. Schulze is a hard worker and has contributed to both discussions and duties during their time as jstaff. Deserves a promotion.

Staff member	Current position	Promotion/Demotion to
Schulzenreich	Junior Staff	Moderator
YourWeirdPlant	Junior Staff	Jstaff

Has Schulz been here for 2 months already? They've been good and have been staff before, so promotion.

As for Plant, they do good work, but I just want one more month with them before promoting them to moderator.

Also, as a general need, I really want to have a discussion about the duties of staff helpers. At the moment, there's two extremes: we have people like Rako, who go above and beyond and do the duties of JStaff, and then helpers who don't do anything. We should really clarify what we expect and list it out explicitly so they know what to do.

Echoing what others said for Schulze. His help is much appreciated.

Abstaining for Plant because I don't really see him but I'm not really sure if that's due to inactivity
